L'altra metà del cielo

In Rome at Galleria La Nica, L'altra metà del cielo (The other half of the sky), showcasing 6 female artists with whom La Nica has come into contact in recent times: Miranda D'Amico, Michelle Gagliano, Vittoria Lippi, LOCO, Umika Mediratta and Marìa Pacheco Cibils. Of different nationalities and cultures and with clearly delineated artistic pursuits, these artists, however, share an intimate and personal relationship with the natural world, which, in a distinctly feminine key, is the protagonist of their art.
 
The title of the exhibition, intentionally inspired by an ancient Chinese proverb that reads "Women support the other half of the sky," is meant to lead the viewer to reflect on a surely metaphorical statement that, by summarizing the complementarity between the feminine and the masculine, emphasizes the generating force of women in a world, the art world, that only in recent decades has begun to give them right recognition.
 
Always linked to the earth and its rhythms and cycles, woman's body teaches her from childhood to understand and support the processes of nature. This latter concept is the starting point for a broader reflection on the need these women artists felt to return to commune with the feminine generating force in order to let their creative energies flow freely according to the unchanging rhythms of the natural world.
The exhibition will present heterogeneous artworks, including painting and sculpture, that will give a glimpse of the artistic production of each of the different protagonists with whom La Nica intends to continue or begin a dialogue that will endure.
